Associate Counsel & Regulatory Operations Lead

Role We are looking for an Associate Counsel to help lead regulatory and compliance work at the firm, and serve as internal corporate counsel. Our company offers a variety of different financial products geared towards solving pain points in the real estate sector and an ideal candidate will have a legal background with experience in the real estate and insurance sectors, or a personal interest in growing their expertise in those areas.
This role will be working directly with the Director of Finance and Strategy at TheGuarantors and will be expected to support the corporate operations team in compliantly navigating a highly regulated sector. Responsibilities
Research and monitor insurtech and proptech industry movements and trends, and provide leadership reports on strategic, regulatory, and compliance changes across each industryLead the filing and maintenance of state and federal licenses for insurance products and agents at the firm; manage regulatory operations trackerDraft, review, and maintain all corporate contracts including partnership/go to market initiatives, vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, termination provisions. Contracts negotiated will service Corporate, Finance, Sales, Product, and EngineeringWork with Sales and Product leadership to monitor competitor activity and strategize on opportunities to make offensive or defensive decisionsLead general corporate legal work, including regulatory compliance with Canadian subsidiaryMaintain certain HR functions at the firm including the employee handbook and company policies, employee agreements and onboarding trainings, and immigration and work authorization procedures, working closely with team leads to track and implement Skills & Expertise Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (JD) from a leading institution2-3 years of experience working in small to midsize law firm or in-house equivalent Strong attention to detail and comfortable parsing and working through dense contract and regulatory filing docsExcellent communication and collaboration skills as the job will be highly cross-functional Strong interpersonal and communication skills as the role will have a high degree of exposure to external and internal stakeholdersAbility to become a “fast” expert in the real estate and insurance industriesAbility to balance a keen regulatory sense while also weighing business needs accordinglyProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Salary, Benefits & Perks Competitive salaryWork visa sponsorship if neededHealth benefits401(k)Flexible work from home schedule (mandatory through COVID-19)Office with an amazing Manhattan view and natural light throughoutMonthly catered lunches for all employees as a venue to connect and build bridgesGroup activities for teams, from lunches to sports outings and events (virtual events as well) About TheGuarantors TheGuarantors is a fintech company dedicated to creating winning opportunities for the real estate ecosystem.
