Job Description
Fifth Wall seeks to recruit an exceptional individual to lead its finance organization as the firm enters its next phase of growth. Reporting to one of Fifth Wall’s Managing Partners, this individual will work cross-functionally with business unit leaders across the firm, manage a team of two finance professionals, and will be responsible for the firm’s overall finance function, including: FP&A; audit and tax; fund operations and fund accounting; payroll / benefits; and oversight of key finance-related vendors. In addition, this role will play a key role in managing Fifth Wall’s day-to-day internal operations as the firm continues to grow, across functions that may include: oversight of operational vendors (e.g. IT), supporting crucial regulatory and compliance activities, and helping to drive operational setup as the firm launches new initiatives both domestically and internationally. Working closely with one of Fifth Wall’s Managing Partners, the General Counsel, and the VP of Strategy & Operations, this individual will be a key financial and operating partner to firm leadership as Fifth Wall grows its unique platform. This role is ideal for a growth-minded individual who enjoys solving complex operational and financial problems in a fast-paced environment, and represents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an innovative and fast-growing multi-strategy investment platform.
The ideal candidate will likely have experience in a finance role at a high-growth operating company in the fintech or proptech space, including oversight of mark-to-market asset pricing and balance sheet management; budgeting, vendor management, and cash flow planning. Additionally, this individual must be comfortable driving results through a combination of individual contribution and effective delegation to and management of a team of direct reports.
Qualifications
Ideal qualifications include:

- 8-10+ years of total work experience, including finance experience in a high-growth operating company setting; additional experience with fund accounting or finance in a PE/VC environment a major plus
- Strategic thinker with an ownership mindset, who enjoys solving complex financial and operational problems
- A strong preference to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with an ability to adjust to new firm goals and capture new business opportunities
- Comfort contributing individually while also leading a team to develop a best-in-class finance organization
- Fluency in financial and accounting concepts in both an operating company and an investment fund context, with the ability to manage and oversee key financial and operational workflows, including:
- Maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures, in accordance with GAAP
- Budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and expense allocations across Fifth Wall’s platform
- Knowledge of mark-to-market and FMV accounting methods, with the ability to oversee and manage the execution of Fund Accounting workstreams
- Management and optimization of financial and accounting systems, using technology to maximize efficiency and scalability where possible
- Interfacing with investors around capital calls, distribution, quarterly performance reporting, annual reports, K-1s, and other ongoing communications as needed
- Analysis of complex partnership agreements and other fund documents, with the ability to independently operationalize the requirements of the agreements
- Oversight of key regulatory and compliance activities, including filing of Form ADVs, interfacing with outside counsel and consultants as needed
- Navigation of regular audits, tax filings, and other mission-critical financial activities
- Oversight and evaluation of key financial and operational vendors across fund accounting, payroll/benefits, IT service providers, and others
- Familiarity with international funds, specifically
- Demonstrated leadership, with the ability to recruit, motivate, and develop finance talent
- Proven experience building and refining repeatable financial and operational processes to drive efficiency and effective execution
- Bias toward action, with comfort managing through ambiguity
- Comfort building for the future while managing current day-to-day financial operations
- Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills
- Collaborative work style—team player with low-ego and growth mindset, and ability to collaborate with a diverse array of colleagues and external counterparties
- Strong academic pedigree with excellent academic credentials; MBA preferred, CPA/CFA a plus
